History vs. Hetalia by InanityEmpire History vs. Hetalia by InanityEmpire
My first ever stamp~
Figures it's something angry.

This is just [link] in stamp format, 'cos I wanted to make one. I'll say much the same thing here--

History is the reason I am interested in Hetalia, NOT the other way around.

However, I don't think it's bad when people become interested in history because of Hetalia. History is just that awesome. Why should we care how people discover its awesomeness?

Hetalia isn't a history textbook, and nobody is trying to claim it is. (I hope.) The show itself doesn't teach jackshit, but it can generate an interest in learning history, which motivates the person to study and learn history on their own. And everyone knows motivation is half the academic battle.

I hope nobody is offended by the contents of this icon. In hindsight, maybe referencing such a (relatively) recent affair wasn't such a bright idea.

But seriously,
Diss my fandom and I will go Blitzkrieg on your ass.

I feel Hetalia is best taken with a pinch of salt. And I don't see it as a historical comedy, more like a political cartoon, like the New Yorker.

Same here, I loved, and still love, learning about History long before I even knew what Hetalia was and I started watching it to see the historical aspects. I just happened to find more things to enjoy when I starting watching it.

That being said, I wish they would have done a Joan of Arc episode! By which I mean one where they would actually show France and Joan of Arc interacting.

Ong I love this stamp. I loved history before Hetalia and now it's mostly what I watch. I watch Youtubers, documentaries, Star Wars the clone wars, Hetalia, the other anime's butler being the second most watched anime

Actually, Hetalia got me interested in history. I used to think it was the most boring thing ever. Now I love it!

I was interested in history more than hetalia , I liked the show , because of the cuteness and well the fact of my ADHD was more easier to understand than most anime's . So yes .. the fandom is insane , but if you don't like it fine , you have my support but I really don't mind ..

Hetalia was what got me into history, and now I'm glad I watched it because I've realized despite what all my classmates say, history IS interesting. And I absolutely agree with you about how 'motivation is half the academic battle'. And the world will end before I say Hetalia is a history textbook.

I loved Histroy way before I watched Hetalia, but ever since I watched Hetalia I fell more in love! I love both Histroy and Hetalia <3 :iconrussiaplz:

You kidding me? I was studying World War Two in first grade! Cause history is that awesome, like you said! But if you look back on history AFTER Hetalia...Well, let's just say there'll be a lot of jokes to be made during world history class...

Well, one thing about Hetalia that I've noticed with some people is that Hetalia kind of gets you interested in history, prompting people to buy Prussian history text books.....

My best friend did that...

I totally agree with you stamp btw and also nice Germany threat XD

I completely approve of people becoming interested in history after first watching/reading Hetalia. The world can never have too many history fans.

Until, yanno, 'fans' changes to its root word 'fanatics'.

The kind that try to reenact history in increasingly realistic reenactments.

Really realistic reenactments.

With the world as the stage.

cough Neo-Soviets cough

But seriously, I'm glad you agree! :D Thanks, I'm fond of that threat, too.

I love this. Seriously.

It makes me happy to see people take an interest in history, even if that interest is generated from an anime... but I am really starting to get sick of seeing crazy fans portray history in an inaccurate way because they've used the show as their only reference ._.
Hetalia =/= History Text Book
At all.
Not in the slightest.

That said, I'm still a /huge/ fan of Hetalia and believe the fandom gets way too much flack... I'd just respect the fandom more if there wasn't that tiny percentage of idiots ._.

History buffs unite :iconfistplz:

I love this comment. Seriously.

Knowing there's other people who think this way out there makes me happy. :) I agree 100% with you... it's not the majority of our fandom that is completely retarded. I'm actually pretty sure a large proportion of us are actual history buffs. (Because that's the type of people Hetalia attracts.) It really is that tiny percentage that gives us a bad name.

(But it'd also be sort of really nice if people would just butt out of other peoples' fandoms and quit bashing on Hetalia altogether. ;_;)
